Trivia Boardwalk ("the app") is a trivia board game published by Wicked Media ApS ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the app uses, why, and what choices you have. The app is intended for people aged 13 and over.
The following stays on your phone and is not sent to us: your game in progress (the board, your position, level, hearts and streak, and the question on screen, so you can resume exactly where you left off), and your settings (music, sound effects, voice and the daily reminder). Uninstalling the app or clearing its data removes it.
The high score lists (today, this month and all time) show how far players have got. To make them work, the app sends the following to our server:
| What is sent | Why |
|---|---|
| A random player ID created on your phone the first time you play (not linked to your account, phone number or advertising ID) | To keep your results together and show each player once on a list |
| A random ID for each game, and the highest level reached in it | To rank players by how far they got |
| The time the level was reached | For the "today" and "this month" lists |
| Your name, only if you choose to enter one (up to 16 characters) | It is shown publicly on the high score lists next to your level |
Players who have not entered a name are not shown on any list. Please do not use your full real name or anything you would not want others to see. Names containing offensive words are rejected, and we may remove any name that is offensive or impersonates someone. You can change your name at any time in the app's menu.
As with any internet connection, your IP address is visible to our server when the app contacts it. We do not store IP addresses, and we do not use them to identify you.
If you uninstall the app or clear its data, a new random player ID is created the next time you play, and your earlier results can no longer be connected to your phone.
Legal basis (for users in the EU/EEA/UK): our legitimate interest in running the game's high score lists, and your choice to enter a name to be shown on them.
To see how the game is played and make it better (for example whether the questions are too hard), the app sends short, anonymous events to our server with the same random player ID: that the app was installed or opened, that a game started or ended and the level reached, each answered question's category and whether it was right or the time ran out, rainbow runs, whether you chose to watch an ad to refill your hearts, when a full-screen ad was shown, and that the daily reminder was turned on. The app version and the country (worked out from your IP address when the event arrives; the IP address itself is not stored) are saved with each event. No names, contacts or other personal details are part of it, and it is never used for ads.
Legal basis (for users in the EU/EEA/UK): our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the game.
The app also uses Google Analytics for Firebase to measure a few game events (a game started or ended and the level reached, reaching certain levels, and choosing to watch an ad to refill your hearts), together with the app instance ID, device and app information, approximate location and, where allowed, the advertising ID. We use this to see how well our Google Ads campaigns work, that is, whether people who install the game through an ad go on to play it. In the EU/EEA and the UK, the choice you make in the consent form also applies to this. Google's use of the data is described in policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
The app shows ads using Google AdMob. AdMob may collect and use your device's advertising ID, IP address and information about your device and how you interact with ads, to show ads and to measure and prevent fraud. We do not receive this information in a form that identifies you.
More about how Google uses data: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and Google's Privacy Policy.
A full-screen ad may be shown after a game ends. When you run out of hearts, you can choose to watch a short ad to refill them once per game. Watching is always your choice.
If you turn on the daily reminder, the app asks for permission to show notifications. The reminder is scheduled locally on your phone (every evening at 19:30, your phone's time). No personal information is sent to us to do this, and you can turn it off at any time in the app menu or in your phone's settings.
The app downloads trivia questions from our server (weqyoua.net). This requires an internet connection. The app does not access your contacts, photos, microphone, camera or location.
We do not sell personal information. Data is shared only with Google (for ads, see section 4) and with our hosting provider, which stores our server data. Names you enter for the high score lists are visible to everyone who plays the app.
High score results and names are kept for as long as the high score lists are used, so the "all time" list stays meaningful. Anonymous game statistics are kept for up to two years. You can ask us to delete your name and results at any time (see section 9).
If you are in the EU/EEA or the UK you have the right to ask about data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to its use, and to complain to your local data protection authority (in Denmark: Datatilsynet). To have your name and results removed from the high score lists, contact us with the name you used. Because your player ID is random, we may ask for details (such as the name and roughly when you played) to find your results.
Trivia Boardwalk is intended for users aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has used the app, contact us and we will delete relevant data.
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it was last changed. Significant changes will be announced in the app or on our website.
